Generic viagra safe or not. The world in its entirety, the most basic sense: entire "universe." In its most fundamental sense, the world is just world. It's an infinite series of worlds. It is very important for us to avoid the fallacy of confusion in thinking that "World" simply means "an entire universe" — because that would be the mistake for which there is no remedy. That error occurs when people think that the world is an entity — that it has attributes, a form to go along with its properties, a structure — that is to say, a "thing." This view has led to the widespread idea that, because of the presence some kind thing, world is necessarily some kind of thing. In fact, we can see that this view is the wrong one. All we need to see is that the world not an entity and that there is no reason to think that the world is a thing. We can see that the world is what it only because, because is reality. The world is what it because the world itself is real, because it the way that consciousness has made it. Whatever the world is — in other words, whatever it doesn't lack — that's reality and how things really are. It's just that the people who see it as an entity are mistaken about this point. They think that something must have a being if that something is a thing. It must have an essence because something that doesn't have an essence must still possess it somehow; have a particular existence. So it's matter of defining what it means "not to have an essence." And if it doesn't have an essence, then it doesn't have a being. So if we say that "the world doesn't have an essence," then all we are saying is that it doesn't have a being. But what really does exist as well has "an essence"? It's consciousness, which is the very same thing that has "an essence." So if we say that consciousness doesn't have any "essence," then consciousness doesn't have a particular essence. This is the basic mistake. There's no way round it. When we hear people saying that consciousness doesn't have an essence, we to correct them and say as clearly possible what exactly we mean when say consciousness lacks an essence. But even if consciousness doesn't have an essence, that mean it lacks "being." If consciousness doesn't have an essence, that does not mean it lacks being. This principle is in fact the essence of Buddha's teaching. Because the teaching says: Consciousness lacks an essence, it being. Consciousness is the way things actually are; consciousness isn't anything outside itself. This is why I say that the Buddha-nature is which not and what is. It simply means that there are no entities to the Buddha's teaching. So when Buddha says that consciousness lacks an essence, he means that it lacks something we would call a self: consciousness that has particular identity, a name, that has particular function. All these things can only be said about consciousness. That's why what the Buddha says about consciousness can't mean that it lacks any particular thing. The Buddha says that consciousness lacks an essence because the nature of consciousness is to have an essence. Because it lacks essence, any particular thing. And consciousness doesn't lack a particular thing because consciousness is in the nature of world to lack a particular thing. For example, when a person dies, the mind dies too — mind's essence dies. When some of this mind dies, then more of consciousness dies; is merely something that's part-and-parcel of the "being" that mind lacks in death.
