Reduce dark circles, fine lines and puffiness with a good eye cream.

The skin around our eyes are significantly more thin and fragile than the remaining parts of our face. The fragile skin around our eyes will, therefore, also get significantly more affected by outer influences that our faces come in contact with on a daily basis.

You have probably noticed that the skin around your eyes often feel a bit dry, you might get dark circles and at times they can feel puffy. It is important to give the sensitive skin extra attention with nutritional ingredients that have been especially developed for the eye area.

Protect the delicate skin around your eyes

The area around our eyes is very delicate, which is why it is extra sensitive towards sunlight and wind. The skin around the eyes is actually only about 0.5 mm thick, which is why it is here you probably will notice the first signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles.

Give the skin around the eyes some extra care

Many do not think to give the eye area extra care. They just use a basic day cream and think this is enough, but this is actually the wrong thing to do. The skin around the eyes actually cannot tolerate the rich ingredients that are in regular skin care products for the face.

The skin around your eyes are because of its thickness extra exposed towards the external influences that your face come in contact with during the day. These influences can cause both redness, dryness, irritation, swelling and dark circles if not treated with protective ingredients.

Use eye cream with protective ingredients

Considering that the skin in the eye area is very thin, it needs mild and protective ingredients that are made especially for the delicate skin. If you only use your day creme or your night cream around your eyes, you might cause redness or irritation, because the ingredients in your daily moisturisers are too strong.

If you want to delay the appearance of wrinkles or smoothen out the ones you already have, you need to have an eye cream containing ingredients especially developed for the thin skin you have around your eyes.

How to apply eye cream

Eye cream should be applied around the eyes and not on. So, even though it is called ‘eye’ cream, the product is actually not supposed to be put on the eyelids. When you apply eye cream to your face you should put it on the skin around the eyes – typically, where you first notice signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles.

The skin on the eyelid itself is actually so thin that the active ingredients only will cause irritation and probably also redness if applied there. The eyelids will also not benefit from the product, because you typically do not experience dryness, wrinkles, dark circles or puffiness on the actual eyelid.

Carefully pat on the skin around the eyes

Do not use much of the product at a time, so that you can make sure that the amount you actually put on can be absorbed by the skin. Make sure that everything is absorbed after applying, and not remain like an extra layer on top of the skin.

Put a bit of the product on your finger and pat gently both under and over the eye – just under your eyebrow – until the product has been absorbed by your skin.

Store eye cream cold for a great energy boost

If you have a tendency to wake up with heavy eyelids you should only use eye cream in the morning and let your eyes rest at night. In different circumstances, the eye cream will have the best effect if you apply it both in the morning and in the evening.

If you store eye cream in the refrigerator, you will get a cold energy boost, when you apply it. This is great in the morning, when your eyes typically feel most tired.
