How do moisturisers work?

A moisturiser gives you plenty of hydration, based on the active moisturising ingredients it contains.

These ingredients typically include:

• Glycerin: One of the most moisturising ingredients, making the skin soft and supple
• Lanolin: Helps maintain skin’s moisture balance
• Tocopherol: A source of vitamin E that acts as a natural moisturiser

Additionally, these cremes often contain ingredients that form a protective, invisible barrier on the skin, helping skin cells retain moisture and reducing the risk of evaporation and dehydration.

These ingredients typically include:

• Hyaluronic acid: Not only penetrates deep into the skin but also forms an invisible moisture barrier on the skin’s surface (Sodium Hyaluronate).
• Urea: A natural humectant that enhances the skin’s ability to retain moisture while providing effective protection against dryness.
• Squalane: Naturally occurring oil in the skin. It helps maintain optimal moisture levels in the skin while acting as a carrier for active ingredients that support and strengthen the skin.
• Niacinamide: Strengthens the skin barrier, enhancing moisture retention and overall hydration.

These key properties are what enable a moisturiser keeps your skin hydrated and nourished throughout the day.

Why does the skin need moisture?

Moisture is one of the most important elements in maintaining and preserving healthy, supple, and radiant skin.

When the skin is dry, it becomes more vulnerable to external factors like pollution and UV rays, increasing the risk of inflammation, blemishes, and loss of elasticity. Additionally, the surface may appear dry, flaky, and maybe a little dull, lacking its natural glow.

The classic day creams:

Our classic day creams are packed with moisturising and moisture-binding ingredients. We refer to them as “classic” because they have long been a hallmark of Beauté Pacifique, widely recognised and trusted over the years. These are day creams that everyone can use, as they contain many of the ingredients that the skin needs.

The creams are available in different variations and packaging. Here’s a brief summary:

Moisturising day cream – dry skin:

Formulated to provide dry or irritated skin with an intense moisture boost, without leaving a greasy residue. The cream’s main ingredients include:

• Squalane
• Glycerin
• Tocopherol Acetate
• Sodium Hyaluronate

And because this cream is targeted at dry skin, it also contains purified, pharmaceutical-grade Lanolin. This ingredient works particularly well in combination with Squalane, maintaining the skin’s moisture balance and leaving the skin exceptionally smooth and refined. The day cream has a long-lasting effect, meaning it maintains a good moisture level for a longer period of time.

The day cream is available in both a tube and a jar, with an option for a fragrance-free tube as well. 

Moisturising day creme – all skin types:

This day creme is formulated for skin that isn’t overly dry or irritated but still requires hydration – something nearly all of us can relate to.

The main ingredients in this day cream include:

• Squalane
• Glycerin
• Urea
• Sodium Hyaluronate

These ingredients deliver immediate hydration as well as long-lasting benefits to the skin.

The key ingredient is Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, a natural source of vitamin C, which is a potent antioxidant that boosts the skin’s collagen network and strengthens ceramides, helping to build a stable and resilient skin barrier.

The day creme is available in both a tube and a jar, and as a fragrance-free tube.

Moisturizing day creme with SPF15

A relatively recent addition to our range of classic day cremes, this version includes sun filters that offer basic sun protection with SPF 15.   

While still prioritising a deep, long-lasting moisture boost, the ingredients list is carefully balanced with the sun filters, ensuring the creme maintains the feel of a day creme rather than a sunscreen. This means that the creme feels light and non-greasy on the skin.

The list of main ingredients includes the well-known:

• Squalane

and a few other ingredients that also boost hydration levels:

• Coco-Caprylate/Caprate: A is a natural extract that makes the skin soft and velvety and leaves a silky and moisture-retaining film on the skin
• Saccharide Isomerate: Another natural plant extract that mimics the skin’s natural moisturising process and boosts the skin’s ability to retain and bind moisture. Moisture is retained deep in the outermost layer of the skin (epidermis) with a long-lasting effect.

The SPF15 day cream is available in a tube. 

Moisturising day cream for men

Our Masculinity Day Creme could easily be included in our range of classic day cremes, but as it is specifically formulated to meet the unique needs of masculine skin, it rightfully belongs to our Masculinity men’s range.

Masculinity day creme contains a number of the previously mentioned main moisturising and binding ingredients:

• Niacinamide
• Squalane
• Tocopherol
• Sodium Hyaluronate

The focus is on creating an ultra-light moisturiser that is completely non-greasy. It absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving it soft, smooth, and supple.

The Masculinity Day creme is available in a tube.
